The most important thing you can do is to educate yourself about the issues of Chapel Hill Town management and then express your opinions publicly. Here are seven ways to do that:
1. Attend Town Advisory Commission and Council meetings, Planning Sessions and Workshops. The calendar at the right alerts you to all town meetings. Note that the public is invited to comment freely at council and advisory commission meetings. Comments are limited to three minutes at official Town Council Meetings. Citizens wanting to speak must sign in with the clerk at the beginning of each meeting.
2. If you can’t attend the meetings in person, Town Council meetings are available for viewing live on the Orange County government channel, Time Warner Cable Digital Channel 1303 or via web streaming at www.townofchapelhill.org/councilvideo Meeting videos are generally available within two days of the meeting.
3. Sign up for the CHALT newsletter using the form in the sidebar to the right. Forward it to your friends.
4. Write emails to the Mayor and Council members – find email addresses here.
