The good news is that the Town Council is willing to make minor adjustments to the Form Based Code that replaced town ordinances when it was adopted. Through code changes they created a small amount of public space where before none was required.
But the bad news is that major important needed changes such as building size, setbacks, shared parking, affordable housing and community amenities are left unaddressed. The Town has hired a firm to do make design guidelines which won’t be complete until a year form now, 3 years after the code was approved by the Council.
Without a solid majority pressing for these changes, we fear that the bad projects will continue to be approved. This is not way to plan a vibrant walkable community!
Attached is our unrealized vision for this district.
